Which pieces belong, which ones quietly ruin a day, and how they should sit together — that is the part a list of listings cannot do for you.

Because the part of Patagonia we work in has no other door. The estancias across the Last Hope fjord, the Baguales range, the shore with no road to it — all of them are reached from here, and from nowhere else.

It is also the reason we are useful. We live in this town, we know which guide suits which traveler, and we can be at the pier at seven in the morning if something needs solving. That is not possible from Santiago, and it is not possible from a screen.

A tailor-made journey starts at around US$4,800 per person for five days and four nights, all included, and we design from four nights up. Where it goes from there depends mostly on where you sleep — the range between a working estancia and a design hotel on the fjord is wide, and we will show you both before you decide.

Asking costs nothing. Once we move from talking to designing, a US$300 design deposit holds the work, and it comes off the price of your journey in full when you travel. For anything shorter — a full day, or a couple of days — the ready-to-book programs are there, with no design fee at all.

For high season — December through March — three to six months ahead gives us the widest choice of estancias, guides and remote accommodation. The ready-to-book programs have limited places on each date and fill earlier still.

Shorter notice is often still possible, and we will tell you honestly what remains available on your dates rather than reshaping the journey around what is left.

If we are the ones who cancel a single-day program — wind, weather or any other case of force majeure — you are refunded in full.

Each ready-to-book program carries its own terms, set out on its page: for the single-day programs the free-cancellation window runs from five to fifteen days before the date, depending on the program, and inside that window there is no refund.

Multi-day journeys and tailor-made trips follow the terms of the estancias and guides we reserve on your behalf, which commit earlier. The deposit, the payment dates and the refund windows are all in the full terms.

Weather, timing and conditions shift here, sometimes within an hour. That is why every journey we design carries its alternatives before you arrive: a second route for the day the wind closes the water, another date while you are still in the area, or a full refund if neither suits you.

You hear about the change from us, usually before you would have noticed it yourself, and the options come with it. Which one you take is yours to decide.

Excess is easy to buy anywhere. What is harder to find is privacy, good judgment and the sense of being understood, and that is where we put the money.
